Why they're hipster approved: You might become confused when you start to dive into the hipster way of life because of endless contradictions. The oddest one is the fact that some of hipsters favorite bands are major acts. You may ask yourself, "But how could this be possible, hipsters only listen to obscure indie music right?" You are partly right. You see, the majority rules in Hipster Land. This explains why people like David Bowie, Tim Burton and David Lynch are still accepted. Some things are mainstream but hipsters will refuse to hand it over as long as other hipsters agree it's worth holding on to. This is the case with Devo. Hipsters can sense their own kind and Devo's co-founder Mark Mothersbaugh is one of them. They love his conceptual approach to music, art, film, etc.
What hipsters won't admit: Hipsters argue that Devo is not a band, but a philosophy about the "De-evolution" of mankind, that people have regressed. Don't let the hipster lingo fool you, they all know Devo is just a band.
How to impress a hipster: Mark Mothersbaugh is leagally blind, that's why his glasses are crazy thick. He can't see without them.
