Why she's hipster approved: If a hipster says they don't like Bjork they are lying. Don't fall for this classic hipster trick because they'll do the same thing with Tim Burton. A hipster is attempting to challenge the natural balance in Hipster Land by shaking the foundations of all that is sacred to them. You see, hipsters sometimes try and give the boot to hipster classics in hope of looking even more hip in the eyes of other hipsters. It worked with Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas & The White Stripes, but it will never work with Bjork. From time to time a foolish hipster tries but finds that they were barking up the wrong tree. They eventually fall back in line like all the rest. Hipster's culture owes a lot to Bjork because her style, music, influence and videos continue to be relevant in the lives of every hipster. She's always one step ahead of hipsters when it comes to collaborations. In the 90s it was Tricky and Mark Bell and in recent years it was hipster favorites Mike Patton, Matmos and Rahzel. Add to all of this the fact that her video for Human Behaviour single handedly launched Michel Gondry's career into super-stardom and you have Bjork, queen of Hipster Land.
What hipsters won't admit: Hipsters like to impress each other with their knowledge of Icelandic bands like Sigur Ros, Emiliana Torrini, Bang Gang and GusGus. The only reason they even cared about Icelandic music in the first place was because of Bjork.
How to impress a hipster: A common way to impress a hipster is to know an obscure fact that's even more obscure than their fact. If discussing Bjork they mention The Sugarcubes you should mention Icelandic punk-pop band Tappi Tikarrass. It was Bjork's first real band and pre-dates The Sugarcubes.
